Training Courses FAQ

How do I register for any of the training classes?

Once you search for a class, select REGISTER for the class you want to sign up. You will be redirected to the American Red Cross Learning Center homepage, where you will login. If you’re new, register as a NEW USER. Verify that the title for the class you plan to take as well as the correct date/time and amount. Check out Class Registration for more info.

Can I register a class for my spouse/dependant?

Yes. However, please note when you’re registering for spouse or child, please create the account under his/her name.

How long does it take for certificates to be sent?

Certificates take about 3-4 days to process and to be sent to your e-mail. 

Do I have to be certified to take the Challenge Course?

No. You do not have to be certified or be a card holder. However, you can only take the challenge once as a non-certified. If you fail, you should refer to the Chapter/Station for full class enrollment.

How much is the cost for each class?

Adult and Pediatric First Aid/CPR/AED class cost $55, Babysitter’s Training cost $70, and Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers cost $40.

Volunteer FAQ

How do I start the process of becoming a volunteer?

The first step to becoming a Red Cross volunteer is to register online in Volunteer Connection thru the Volunteers Connection system. During the process, you will create a profile and select a 'home office' (such as Camp Foster or Kadena AFB). As always, all new volunteers must complete a background check and attend the orientation prior to start volunteering.

I'm under 18. Do I need to complete a background check? 

Volunteers under the age of 18 are NOT required to complete a background check.

Could I change my office I'm associated with?

Yes. Volunteers can change the office they are associated with through their Volunteer Connection account when necessary.

Why should I volunteer?

​As always, the ARC in Okinawa would like to be part of your Okinawa experience. There are many opportunities available to volunteers to gain work experience, everything from administrative and personnel management to assisting medical personnel and teaching. Also, the ARC in Okinawa do great variety of things including helping communities prepare for emergencies such as typhoons, earthquakes, and tsunamis, or simply lending a helping hand to members of the community and to the military. 

​What is required to be a volunteer at MCB Butler ARC?

Adult volunteers must be at least 18 years of age, have a SOFA status, and a valid access to the bases.

Instructor FAQ

​I would like to become a standard Adult and Pediatric First Aid instructor.  What are the pre-requisites? 

You must be ARC First Aid/CPR/AED certified before taking the instructors course.

Could I be an instructor for Babysitter’s training, Profession Rescuer or Wilderness, Remote First Aid, etc?

Yes. Certified instructors can bridge over to instruct many other types of courses.

Do I have to attend all instructors’ course sessions?

Yes. All instructor candidates must attend all sessions.
