Command Fleet Activities Facebook site provides updates and an interactive dialogue on tropical cyclones and TCCOR conditions, along with explanations of what to expect during various phases. They may also provide notices of areas experiencing outages or heavy damage.

Command Fleet Activities

Tenki.jp provides local weather information for Japan. Tenki means weather in Japanese. Although the text is in Japanese most of the content can be followed using the graphics and numbers. The radar loop of the last 2 minutes can be zoomed in to Okinawa, or parts of mainland Japan, along with other graphics showing rain fall, temperatures, and wind speeds.


Japan Meteorological Agency (JMA)

The Regional Specialized Meteorological Center (RSMC) for tropical cyclone forecasts (typhoons) is located in Japan. The Japan Meteorological Agency (JMA/RSMC Tokyo) is responsible for issuing advisories within the Western Pacific basin. This site provides the latest information and location of tropical cyclones that may impact Okinawa. JMA also has a weather satellite loop of the Northwest Pacific basin. Note that forecast times are in Coordinated Universal Time (UTC). To Convert UTC to the local Japanese Standard Time (JST) add 9:00 hours.
